Commonly Asked Questions

How long does it take to heat up?
In-slab heating is a slow release heat, it can take up to 24 hours to reach your desired temperature. This makes In-Slab heating more of along term heating option. You would turn it on at the beginning of winter and remain on until the end of winter/

Can I connect In-Slab heating to Off-Peak?
Yes, this is one of the main benefits of In-slab heating. The slab slowly releases the heat throughout the day, then tops up overnight whilst drawing power.

What floor coverings can I lay on top of In-slab Heating?
You can use anything from tiles to carpet.

Can I split up the house so different areas work at different times?
Yes, Of course. Yet with In-slab heating we recommend that you zone with large areas. It is not uncommon to have the whole house on one thermostat.

Can Slab heating crack the tiles?
No, all our heating products come with a temperature controlled thermostat. You set the comfort temperature you prefer (ie. 22deg C) and when the floor reaches that temperature it will switch off. Once the floor temperature drops a few deg below your set temperature it will switch back on. This stops overheating which rotary timer can do, and prevents the tiles from cracking.

What happens if the cable is damaged?
Don't worry ...all cables can be repaired if there is damage done. Our technicians can detect exactly where the cable is damaged. Yet, no one enjoys this, so it is best that after your cable is laid you co-ordinate your slab to be laid the following day.
